Adrian van Wijk, Founder

In 1992 Adrian graduated as an Industrial Designer in South Africa and gained experience with some of the top international branding and design agencies. His passion for the environment and solving problems through design has distinguished him as a leading product designer. He has been the recipient of multiple design awards. In 1998 Adrian immigrated to Canada and a year later he founded JDi Design Inc.

Adrian is actively involved in the design industry and has been honoured to have served on the executive board as president of both BCID (The BC. Industrial Design Association) and ACID (The Association for Canadian Industrial Designers).

Adrian keeps fit by chasing his toddler and bicycle commuting.

Jamie McDonald, Senior Industrial Designer

A genuine Canadian  Jamie graduated in 2000 with a Associates of Art  Degree from the Art Institute of Seattle and a Degree of Industrial Design from Emily Carr University in 2004.

Jamie’s diverse experience in working on a variety of projects is fuelled by his enthusiasm and continuing interest in the interchange between material and design.  Since Jamie joinedJDi Design, he has been involved in numerous award winning projects.

Jamie and his late, WWII sidecar riding canine companion, have been somewhat of a tourist phenomenon in Vancouver.

Sandy Lam, Graphics & Industrial Designer

Sandy originally from Hong Kong holds multiple degrees, Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University, Graphic Design Associate Diploma and a Degree of Industrial Design from Emily Carr University.

Sandy's graduation project, Spacless, has won international acclaim and has also received a Red Dot Award . Sandy’s first major project at JDi Design has been selected as the finalist winner in IDSA Award 2010. Her works have been published and exhibited world widely.

When not designing Sandy is pampering  "Mocha", JDi's canine mascot who is tastefully dressed in the latest designer fashions while lounging on his executive couch.

Sam Richards, Product Engineer

Sam graduated with a degree in Product Design Engineering from Glasgow University of Scotland in 2003. After working for a couple of large U.K. product development companies, Sam moved to Canada for his love of the West Coast mountains.

Sam joined the JDi Design team in 2009 and is energised when working the magic of transforming ideas from the impossible to possible and generating finished products.

As well accomplished product design engineer Sam has won numerous awards among them Design Week Award for the Best Product Design.

Sam's ability to design is barely rivalled by his love for the outdoors , snowboarding and mountain biking exploits.
